Seminar D: The Mentally Disordered Offender. Where, when and how to manage them. Who should decide?

This Seminar will explore the options for the end to end management of people who are either mentally disordered when they come into contact with the criminal justice system or become mentally disordered when the criminal justice system is applied to them.

The crucial issues to be explored are, firstly, where are mentally disordered people best treated and secondly who should be able to direct and move them across the systems of care and containment?

Models of the current position are offered with suggestions for alternative strategies to manage this group of people.
