Aaron Porter

Associate Director (Governance) - Advance HE

Aaron Porter is the non-executive chair of BPP University and a member of the governing body of Goldsmiths, University of London. He has a portfolio of other roles, largely focussed on higher education including as Associate Director (Governance) with Advance HE and as an Associate Director for IDP Connect. In his role with Advance HE, he leads a national development programme for members of university boards and councils which in 2020/21 had over 750 participants, and has led reviews of governance effectiveness at over 35 universities across the UK, Ireland and Australia. ​

Previously, Aaron was President of the National Union of Students during the high profile debate on tuition fees in 2010-11 having served two terms as Vice President (Higher Education).​

In 2014 he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Leicester for his contribution to higher education and the student experience, where he had previously been an undergraduate and a sabbatical officer of the students’ union.
