Emma Weston OBE

Chief Executive - Digital Unite

I founded Digital Unite 27 years ago and I’m/we’re still here (!) supporting organisations of all sizes and hues to deliver digital inclusion through Digital Champion models. We provide Digital Champion products and services, with a special focus on high quality (including CPD accredited) training for Digital Champions and Digital Champion Project Mangers. We also provide a huge range of supplementary resources and tools to support them, and the organisations they work or volunteer for, in their digital inclusion endeavours.

My personal commitment to digital inclusion remains as steadfast as ever and I was awarded an OBE for services to digital inclusion in 2012. Over the years I have led large collaborative multi-partner initiatives, grant funded programmes, government backed inclusion and skills programmes. I have set up and chaired a range of groups and steering committees, advised stakeholders from public and private sectors.

Today’s digital landscape is unrecognisable in many ways to the one I started exploring 27 years ago. But the issue of inclusion persists and the risk of exclusion remains. In fact, it’s now even more important than ever – because the world is digitally mediated. Digital inclusion is personal, social, civic and economic inclusion. Digital Unite is proud to be working daily to support and promote that agenda.
